The Prickly Patch Y Clwt Pigog

The Prickly Patch / Y Clwt Pigog

Following a successful application for Welsh Government’s Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) in the Wye Valley National Landscape, and commercial sponsorship from STARK Building Materials (UK) Ltd, I am delighted to announce that The Prickly Patch / Y Clwt Pigog wild hedgehog rehabilitation centre opened to admissions on 1st April 2026.

The Prickly Patch is an extension to the Volunteer First Response Unit (FRU) which will continue to be the main point for calls in the area. Whilst the centre isn't open directly to the public, referrals are received via the FRU and rescued hedgehogs taken by our volunteers to The Prickly Patch where appropriate.

To follow the work of the FRU and The Prickly Patch, please follow our Facebook page or find us on Instagram at @pricklypatch_hedgehogs

Dylan Allman and Emily Prickly PatchThere are lots of opportunities to get involved and support our new centre. This could include sponsoring a hedgehog hutch, promoting our work, or volunteering your time to help with cleaning out cages, and site maintenance. We have a comprehensive training and induction for all volunteers whether in a clinical or non-clinical role.

Please click on the button below to pledge your support.

We also have a donation link where all funds go directly towards helping with the running costs of The Prickly Patch. Click here to donate.

This is a really special development in my hedgehog conservation work over the last 6 years, and I look forward to continue playing an active role as a Trustee of the charity.
